Several updates a day
74 points, added 03/11/2008 by mblarsen
The ability to make several updates a day that is registered. No day is same all 24 hours.
The variations will show up in the graph as forks or widening of the line.

If I move the slider to a spot and then realize I’m not committed to that rating and move it to another spot, I don’t think it should show on the graph both spots because obviously one was in error.

I find the fork-style graph completely unreadable – I’m looking at data, but I can’t see if a certain metric got better or worse during the day. If I enter data six times in three days, I want to see a line with six points going up and down across three days, not two lines of the same color with three points and a colored area in between them.

This is mostly working now in graphs, let me know your thoughts!

one thing to keep in mind though.. there should be a holding period. e.g. if you just entered “happy as heck…” you should not be able to move the slider to “angry as hell” within 5-10 minutes just because you stubbed your toe. this will prevent impulsive changes that may disturb measurements.

I support the idea

It truly is hard to evaluate how one’s day has been overall. I find myself changing my sliders drasticly because I move them in the morning and later in the evening as well. It is much easier to determine how someone is feeling at the current moment than try to sum up their entire day on a series of sliders.

this is an excellent suggestion. what it will allow users to do later, will be to track metrics based on a more accurate/frequent measure i.e. the time of day, rather than day of the week.

It seemed like a good idea to me at first, but maybe the metrics will become very disorganized and chaotic with all those updates… Just a thought.

My first question was going to be can I update more than once a day so I agree with this suggestion. Guessing I can only update once a day at present.

this site is only useful to me with this feature

I would vote for this. Will help people like me with Bipolar disorder … Some case mood swings happen couple of times in a day. They are related to sleep and stress

hmmm – so then we end up with graph of a person’s lifetime that can be zoomed in: i wonder if it would be fractal.

I think this ability would make this site drastically more helpful for me. I am trying to get a handle on what factors in my life affect parameters such as mood, health, sleep, stress, and general feelings by coordinating them with current location, company, recent foods eaten, etc. to see if there’s a correlation. I have been scouring the internet and this is a very similar idea to what I have been looking for but by generalizing my feelings throughout the day, it makes my data a little washed out. By being able to update it several times a day, it would make this very much more possible for me.
Please see my suggestion titled “Ping for Data” for an elaboration of my ideas.
